Love & Peace

Laser Cut | Acrylic Sculpture

Interwoven Line-Type

This project explores the idea of typography as something interwoven. Blending forms, meanings, and cultures into a single sculptural composition. The initial concept focused on interlacing English line typography with a calligraphic style inspired by Farsi. However, due to fundamental differences in sentence structure and visual rhythm between the two languages, the composition presented significant challenges.

Through critique and feedback, the project evolved to focus on weaving together two calligraphic traditions: Mandarin Chinese and Farsi. Simplified symbols representing love and peace were translated into calligraphic forms and laser-cut into acrylic panels. These panels were arranged in a repetitive, interwoven structure that allows viewers to experience the typography from multiple angles.

Typography as Interwoven Form

As the viewer moves around the sculpture, the layered calligraphic forms reveal distinct typographic identities while remaining visually connected. The result is a static composition that emphasizes the idea of blending and interconnection using light, material, and spatial positioning to bring interwoven typography to life.

Although the composition is physically static, the interaction of light, transparency, and laser-cut acrylic creates a sense of visual dynamism. Light passes through the layered panels, casting shadows and reflections that further emphasize the interwoven nature of the typography. Through material choice and spatial arrangement, the sculpture brings the concept of blending and interconnectedness to life demonstrating how language, form, and meaning can coexist while retaining their individual identities.
